Meet Precious our apprentice UX designer

Last week...

Our vision

For people that care about their community

Who want to join forces to get things done

Co-operate is a national community centre for co-operation

That connects people in and across communities with one another to make things happen

Unlike a physical community centre restricted by geography and funding, or a community digital platform distracted by monetisation

Our product is created with communities, for communities, and is owned by communities

Homepage refresh

Our new homepage design is now live. We wanted to make it easier for users to find things happening local to them so added a location search box so that every journey starts with a local experience. By entering your location, you can see the newly added activities and groups in your area, click browse all and you can view all activities and groups directly from the homepage.

Making good things happen

We’ve also added activity and group categories to the homepage. We found through research that users found this information upfront useful when finding what was most relevant to them. So, by making them more prominent on the homepage we hope to get users finding things to do in their area quicker.

How might we sketching session

The Design Team have been looking into some of the larger themes that came out of our recent research. These were interconnectivity between groups, organisers and participants and co-organisers. And looking into the theme of privacy for organisers and group members.    We have come up with some How Might We statements and have been sketching around them to come up with ideas of how we could tackle them.

How might we session

We’ll be prototyping and testing some of these ideas going forward to see what is most useful for our audience.

Member Pioneer Trial

We’re running a trial with 15 Member Pioneers. They’ll feature in a card component when someone searches for a location that that Member Pioneer covers. Thankfully they’ll be covering a large area so that we can test with as many people as we can.

We want to learn if people in the community contact Member Pioneers through Co-operate and what it is they ask. We want to learn how we can help local communities through personal interaction with a local expert and how we can help our Member Pioneers connect with people in their local communities.

As part of the trial, we’ll be sending a weekly survey to find out in more depth how it’s working but we’ll also be joining a WhatsApp group with our Member Pioneers so they can ask questions and share insights and feedback as and when it’s happening.

Meet Precious 👋

Precious

Precious is our Apprentice UX Designer on Co-operate.

Precious is part of an exciting new apprenticeship scheme that launched this year.

She will spend 20% of her time studying at Manchester Metropolitan University to gain a degree in UX Design. The rest of her time will be spent working at Co-op, getting real, on the job experience.

We’re so excited to have Precious on the team. She has already starred in our Co-operate video for National Inclusion week and been sketching new ideas for our product.

Thank you Precious for all your hard work this last two weeks. Precious is at university next week for her first learning sprint and is back with us on 5 October.

Have a great week

The Co-operate team
