Teaching the community to save lives

Last updated: 8 November, 2021

Our youth volunteers and adults took part in 2 Restart to Heart campaigns at the local church hall and our regular St John’s Ambulance meeting.

We demonstrate CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to use a defibrillator on our resuscitation model Annie and baby mannequins.

We then encourage members of the public to have a go. Over the 2 events we trained 53 people to help save a life if they were to find someone unconscious and not breathing.

It is very important to start chest compressions as soon as possible, and if a defibrillator is available to use that too. We hope the people who came to our sessions now have the knowledge and encouragement to use the skills they have learned to try and save a life.

They can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
