Supporting people to get online

Last updated: 25 September, 2020

Bexley Mencap supports people with learning disabilities and their carers and families. During the pandemic we've provided online digital television and IT training to get members and carers set up on Zoom, Skype and WhatsApp.

All our activities are now online – keep fit, dance, music, yoga, film and quiz nights, and social clubs.

This has helped reduce social isolation and provided respite care. Carers, many of whom are older people, are now able to access services online.

We've teamed up with GoodGym so that people with a learning disability can keep fit and help out with volunteering activities locally in parks and food banks.

We've also trained up new volunteers and delivered activity packs to households so vulnerable people can follow online courses and stay active in their community.
