The quiet crisis of loneliness has been at the forefront of our thinking, and we have been able to witness at first hand the transformative effect on self-worth through companionship in a supportive and non-critical environment.
We have also undertaken many tasks in the community through which we have earned respect and appreciation and, in the process, become a valued local resource.
We have also been able to help disadvantaged children and at the outset of Covid 19 buy and supply emergency food to be distributed within our community.
The arrival of Covid 19 and social distancing meant we had to leave our cramped home and move to larger, much more expensive premises.
We were aware too that lockdown and shielding would potentially lead to mental health problems in our community, particularly among the older generation, and that this would be a problem that we could help to address.
So currently, we are in an empty shell and spending our dwindling bank balance busily crafting a new, more spacious and welcoming space in anticipation of what lies ahead. A mammoth task.
