It’s good to talk
Last updated: 22 June, 2020
I’ve set up a befriending service for isolated and lonely people within the area. Together with help from Malmesbury Town Council and Heals charity of Malmesbury, we have over 100 volunteers and have set up a helpline for people to call if they need someone to talk to.
We’ve also called over 50 of our most vulnerable residents and offered them this service. We arrange calls weekly between the befriender volunteer and vulnerable person. It allows the vulnerable person to express their concerns and have a chat with somebody which aids their wellbeing.
The befriending service has been well received as our community are getting to know individuals who may live only a few streets away. It's a great way for people to stay connected and not feel alone.
