Community art project for Sammy the seal

Last updated: 16 December, 2021

Community groups have worked together to create a wall mural for Bexhill’s SEAL life. Transforming a neglected space.

Volunteers from Sustrans, Bexhill Wheelers and Bexhill Environmental Group have planted, picked litter and painted a bridge that had been neglected for 5 years.

We want to thank everyone who gave up their time to transform this space. And for taking pride in our town.

Inspired by this transformation, W.Ave Arts came together to paint a wall mural. Our vision is to transform local surroundings for the better.

Network Rail gave us permission to do this. Recognising how important art is in bringing the community together.

We opened a GoFundMe page and, to our surprise, within a few weeks we had reached our goal. The community and local businesses had all got involved and supported our idea.    The wall mural was then painted in recognition of Sammy the seal and other seal life that have been visiting Bexhill for some time now.    Without all the help received there would have been no project. We are eternally grateful to our community.
