Encouraging non disabled people to come along
Setting up games and equipment
Helping tidy up at the end of the session
Chatting with people at the cafe
Playing board games
Volunteering helps with work experience and builds up confidence.
The groups are held in cafes around Leeds.
We encourage people to chat together. We also help people with counting skills and general communication.
It helps to have a common task and that usually means simple board games.
We sometimes have themed days like Chinese new year, storytelling, and music days.
We'll give you guidance if you have not worked with people with learning disabilities before.
You get food and drink at reduced rates.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Providing a safe space to chill and chat is what we're about.
DUE TO RECENT EMERGENCY REPAIRS ON THIS VENUE, PLEASE CONTACT THE ORGANISER BEFORE YOUR VISIT.
“We've helped people overcome social anxiety and begin to make friends. They feel safe and welcome.”
